Offering a rare and original 1960’s Dayton era Rogers 4 piece Holiday Red Sparkle drum set. Circa 1966-69.<br>This Rogers drum kit was left to me by my best friend who was killed serving in the Vietnam War. Billy died in April, 1970, he was 19. But, before he shipped out to Vietnam he stated, “ if anything happens to me, I want you to have my drums”. I never thought he would be killed nor did I think I would wind up with this drum kit. Billy purchased the set new in approximately 1968 and played it on weekends in our Brooklyn neighborhood band. It was the most valuable thing he ever owned.<br>So, having said that, I have owned and stored this completely original, factory born together drum set for the last 51 years. The pieces have spent all this time in their original Rogers soft cases owing to their wonderful condition. It is a true Time Capsule, having not been played or used in any way. Doubtful you will find another vintage Rogers drum set with this kind of provenance.<br>Rack Tom 12”, Serial #75772, Rack Tom 13”, Serial #77117, Floor Tom 16”, Serial #94969, Bass 20”, No label.<br>The condition of the two Rack Toms and the Floor Tom is amazing. The Red Sparkle wraps and chrome show no sign of use. Only some very mild surface pitting to some of the chrome lugs is all. But, no dents, scratches and the wrap is bright, shiny and problem free. The original Weatherking batter heads and resonant heads are still present and in very good condition.<br>The condition of the bass is excellent. Only some very mild chrome pitting, pedal rash and black paint chipping to the hoops. The Red Sparkle wrap is bright, shiny and problem free. The label is missing.
